Privacy Policy

Overview

MetroHop is built on the principle that an app should do its job without collecting anything about you. This policy explains what we do and don't do with your information.

Location data

MetroHop requests access to your device's precise location for one purpose: to show you stops near where you are.

When you use a feature that requires your location (such as finding nearby stops), your coordinates are sent to the MetroHop server, which returns the relevant stop information. Your location is used to process that request and is not stored, logged, retained, or associated with any identifier. It is discarded immediately after the response is returned.

Your location is never used for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than fetching nearby stop data.

What we do not collect

MetroHop does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information
  • Your search history or the stops you have viewed
  • Your travel patterns or journey history
  • Crash reports or usage analytics

There are no accounts and no sign-in. We have no way to identify you.

The Google AdMob SDK included in MetroHop may access your device's advertising ID and other on-device signals for ad serving and measurement. MetroHop itself does not collect, store, or transmit these identifiers. See the Advertising section below for details.

Third-party services

MetroHop retrieves public transit data from the Adelaide Metro GTFS and GTFS-RT feeds, relayed through the MetroHop API server. No personal information is included in these requests.

MetroHop does not use any third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

Advertising & MetroHop Plus

The free tier of MetroHop displays native ads served through Google AdMob. These ads appear on the dashboard screen and are provided by Google's advertising network.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK used to serve these ads may access your device's advertising ID, IP address, and other on-device signals for ad serving, personalisation, and measurement. This data is processed by Google under their own privacy policy, not by MetroHop.

Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom will be shown a consent form managed by Google's User Messaging Platform before any ads are loaded. You can review or change your ad privacy choices at any time through Google's ad settings.

MetroHop Plus removes all advertising. Plus subscribers do not see ads and the AdMob SDK is not used to serve content to them within the app.

For more information on how Google handles data collected through AdMob, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's ad technology disclosure.

Children

MetroHop does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
